Sitting here on the town square park bench patiently waiting on my wife
I couldn’t help but notice the people around me as they all walked by
Some were walking at a fast steady pace as if in a hurry and they knew where to go
While others just slowly shuffled along with no interest they had to show
But the one thing I’ve learned is you can tell a lot about someones mood by seeing them walk in their shoes
You can tell if their feet hurt them, if they want to go home or if they feel well as their shoes will give you a clue
The poor lady in the cowboy hat cringes as she takes every step, but those new boots, they make her really look good
And the old man with a cane is wearing his new bright white sneakers because his wife said that he should
The joggers walk briskly in high dollar shoes you know they wear them well
The young girl with her boyfriend she’s wearing shoes with high heels that hurt, but don’t they really look swell
Now me, I preferred to choose shoes for comfort when I walked around that little town
And I really don’t care what others may think even if my wife says I look like a clown
Yes some will get blisters and corns on their feet just because they want to look good
But me and my trusty smelly dirty old Brooks can happily walk around just like I should
